Communities Act Now!

Communities Act Now! Guidance on Substance Use Prevention and Treatment for a Healthier Lifestyle Program provides facts and tips for substance use prevention and treatment services to communities in Orange County. Residents will be provided with educational information on topics such as, the risks associated with substance use, coping strategies, techniques to recognize an overdose, overdose prevention medication, and how to implement positive behaviors which can be utilized to maintain a healthy lifestyle. These prevention measures/services aim to reduce substance use, substance overdose, treatment of opioid overdoses, and promote alternatives to substance use. Our goal is to create a safe and healthy environment that not only reduces substance use disorders, but also helps our youth and the community at large to make positive choices for their physical and mental health and overall wellbeing.

Communities Act Now! Guidance on Substance Use Prevention and Treatment for a Healthier Lifestyle is a program offered by CAAIRE to local businesses, community centers, faith-based organizations, schools, and other locations throughout Orange County. Most importantly, CAAIRE recognizes the need for our resources/services to include onsite education; therefore, we provide discussions and training on Naloxone (Narcan). It is well documented that any substance use overdose can quickly result in a life-threatening medical emergency or even death. Narcan is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Additionally, every minute counts, so we train others to quickly respond to a potential situation involving an overdose by instructing individuals to quickly ACT – Ask, “Are you ok?”– Call 9-1-1 – Take Action. The ACT resource plan is an integral component of our program services and are provided to community members, businesses, civic organizations, and those within the faith-based community throughout Orange County.
